Design and Implementation of Public Sector Performance Management Programme
Abeceder Associate Sue Heward designed and implemented a performance management programme for 70 managers for a Local Education Authority.
The project which was linked to the Authority’s application and assessment for Investors in People had to be both designed and delivered so that the managers could complete their performance appraisals within three months of the design process commencing.
To be successful the project had to overcome the negativity of the managers to appraisals caused by their past experiences. Nevertheless by focusing on the development of the skills and knowledge the managers needed to do the job right, rather than simply the process the project was implemented and completed on schedule.
The project continues with further training scheduled over the next twelve months.
